Meyers Elementary School

Home of the Bears!

Welcome to Meyers Elementary School

Meyers Elementary School, formerly known as Lake Tahoe Environmental Science Magnet School (LTESMS), is situated in Meyers, California, near South Lake Tahoe. The decision to rename the school back to Meyers Elementary coincided with the Lake Tahoe Unified School District's transition from a school of choice to community-based schools in 2022. The school offers advanced technology, including 1:1 Chromebook computing, document cameras, and View Boards in every classroom. With a focus on environmental science education, Meyers Elementary benefits from its location near Lake Tahoe, receiving grants for innovative programs and field trips through partnerships like the South Tahoe Environmental Educator Coalition (STEEC). Academic excellence is emphasized, supported by initiatives like Response to Intervention (RTI), collaborative teaching strategies, and hands-on science instruction. Meyers Elementary boasts an active PTA that funds educational initiatives and enriching field trips, aligning with the school's vision to discover and nurture every student's unique talents and potential through personalized relationships.

ENROLLMENT PROCESS for New Families:

Use the LTUSD Elementary Transportation Zone Map to find your school; this is the school you should enroll at in the system. This is your residence address (we are required to collect proof of residency upon acceptance.) At this time, we can only admit in-boundary studentsunless you have an existing older sibling that currently attends Meyers and will be entering grades 1-5 in the Fall. In this case, LTUSD only provides very limited transportation. As well, our numbers will be analyzed each year for those that live out of bounds and there is the possibility you could be "bumped" by someone that lives in-boundary.

If your incoming student is brand-new to LTUSD, complete the online  enrollmentfor your school of residence and choose the correct year enrollment (or pre-enrollment depending on the time of year). If you have an existing sibling enrolled in LTUSD, log in to your already created account and click the Enroll a New Student button so your children will be linked in the portal.

If you wish to transfer from one of our other District schools, and you live in our school boundary according to the boundary map above, please email [email protected]
with your child's full name, DOB, physical address and current school and grade.

Please do not bring any paperwork to the school until we contact you (via email) with an acceptance. If the online system won't allow you to access the forms, I have posted the complete packets on this website under Forms and we also have paper packets in the School Lobby.

For any questions, email [email protected]    Thank you for your interest!

TK: We are excited to be offering TK for the first time, in Fall 2025!  Pls complete the online enrollment process as stated above, if your child's DOB is Sept 1, 2021 or before and you live in boundary (or will have a sibling here in the Fall).  Per State law, we cannot go even 1 day beyond the birthday cutoff.  We will probably have to do a lottery to see who gets in for TK.  If you live out of our boundary, even if you have an older sibling here, you may not be able to participate in the lottery if we end up with more interested than we have space for, but Tahoe Valley will welcome you to apply at their site, as they are the other school that does TK.  You must have your online enrollment for TK completed by April 25 to participate in the lottery.  This is a half-day program (probably from 8:00-12:00) and there will be a Boys and Girls Club chapter running after they get out (contact them directly to enroll).

TOURS FOR NEW FAMILIES: You may come to either Friday, April 18 or Friday, April 25.  Both at 10:00.   If possible, please leave children at home; but you are all welcome at our Back to School Night June 5, 5:30-7:00

PRIORITIES FOR ENTRY:

*Students/Families wishing to attend their transportation zoned school will have first enrollment priority. (see map link above)

*Students/Families (with siblings going into that school year) that want to continue in their current school OUTSIDE of their transportation zone, will be next on the priority list.

*Students/Families requesting a school outside of their transportation zone are not being granted by the District at this time.
